Did you know that the word “gargoyle” comes from French “gargouille” which means “throat”? That would appear to take its inspiration from the statues’ water-siphoning gullets. But in actual fact, the name comes from the French legend of “La Gargouille,” a fearsome dragon from French mythology. Inspired by the thousands of gargoyles that crouch like sentinels on the roofs of Paris buildings, Anderson Design Group crafted a vintage travel poster of one such gargoyle. Perfect for lovers of French architecture and design, this retro artwork is available as an art print, canvas banner, framed postcard, or as a set of notecards or postcards. To learn more about the gargoyles and other Paris attractions, check out the France Tourism Bureau.
