Truly iconic and instantly recognizable, the Appalachian Trail is a 2,180+ mile long public footpath that traverses the scenic, wooded, pastoral, wild, and historic lands of the Appalachian Mountains. Conceived in 1921, built by private citizens, and completed in 1937, today the trail is managed by the National Park Service, US Forest Service, Appalachian Trail Conservancy, numerous state agencies and thousands of volunteers. Stretching between Springer Mountain in Georgia and Mount Katahdin in Maine, and passing through 14 states, the Appalachian Trail is the longest hiking-only trail in the world. More than three million people hike segments of this iconic trail each year, though only about 600 or so complete a through-hike of the trail each year (despite thousands attempting the feat annually). Now available as a poster print, canvas, metal sign, mini-canvas, notecard, or postcard, this original vintage-style illustration will look great on any wall. Styled after the vintage poster art and travel art of the mid-20th century, this artwork is the perfect gift for anyone who’s enjoyed hiking the “AT.” To learn more about the wonders of the Appalachian Trail, check out the website for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.
