Where better to spend the summer than in Venice, a city of islands? Venice is a breathtaking city built on a series of islands connected by bridges. Over 177 canals in Venice wind their way through 118 different islands, creating a unique urban center in which many residents and visitors get around via boat, not by car. About 1,500 years old, Venice boasts 417 bridges, some as old as the city itself and others constructed more recently. Depicted here, one iconic landmark stands out on the water: Santa Maria della Salute. It is a Roman Catholic church and minor basilica located at the Punta della Dogana.
