Cody is a cowboy town in northwest Wyoming. The Buffalo Bill Center of the West has 5 museums, including the Buffalo Bill Museum, tracing William F. Cody’s life with multimedia displays, and the Draper Natural History Museum, with wildlife exhibits. Nearby, Old Trail Town is a re-created frontier town with 1800s log cabins and a saloon. Buffalo Bill Scenic Byway winds past craggy cliffs to Yellowstone National Park. Many years ago, the families that ventured to the Rocky Mountains of Cody, Wyoming required skills of horsemanship and roping. In order to handle and manage livestock, settlers needed to know how to ride, rope, and tame wild stock. Today, this Wild West dexterity is still used on working ranches in Wyoming. Thanks to showman Buffalo Bill Cody’s entertaining twist on these herding skills, Cody is now known as the Rodeo Capital of the World. Here are a few of the popular Rodeo events that have made Cody The Rodeo Capital Of The World: CODY STAMPEDE RODEO The Cody Stampede July 1–4, attracts cowboys from across North America to compete for big purses, and ride the best rodeo stock in the country. This rodeo celebration offers 4 days of action packed rodeo entertainment, craft fair, food booths and daily parades. CODY NITE RODEO Since 1938, The Cody Nite Rodeo has provided two hours of real wild, western, family-friendly action. Come early and meet the cowboys and bull-fighters. Get your picture taken on Mongo the bull. Nightly performances June 1 through August 31 at 8:00pm. Tickets can be purchased at the gate, the Stampede office 1031 12th Street, online, or from local vendors. CODY/YELLOWSTONE XTREME BULLS EVENT The Cody/Yellowstone Xtreme Bulls is an annual event bringing the top bull riders in the country to Cody to compete on the top bulls. Many of the competitors are hoping to make it to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. This classic western-styled design will look great as a framed print, canvas, metal sign, mini-canvas, poster, or as a postcard or notecard.
