Santa Cruz is known for a lot of things, but one of the city’s claims to fame is its efforts to preserve and conserve local surfing beaches, regions where visitors and locals alike have been surfing for decades. In fact, Santa Cruz is even home to the World Surfing Reserve, an international conservation effort designed to protect at-risk beaches and surfing hotspots.
