It may be nicknamed the Beaver State, but if there’s one thing Oregon is better known for than its beaver population, it's the state's absolutely stunning coast! Rugged and rocky but also sandy and pristine in many places, the Oregon coast is diverse, exciting, and unique. There is even a state-managed hiking trail called the Oregon Coast Trail that takes adventurers all the way along the coastline, from Washington to California! One of the highlights of the Oregon Coast is Cannon Beach, a charming coastal city in northwest Oregon, just an easy day-trip from Portland. This peaceful and aesthetically stunning region is known for its long, sandy shore and impressive rock formations. Standing tall in the ocean, Haystack Rock is a seasonal hotspot for tufted puffins and tourists alike. On a headland to the north, trails in Ecola State Park offer sweeping views of the ocean, coves, and a nearby lighthouse.
