The story of King Arthur is a tale as old as time, originally written by Geoffrey of Monmouth. Geoffrey was a Catholic cleric from Monmouth, Wales, and one of the major figures in the development of British historiography and the popularity of the King Arthur story. According to the legend, Arthur was the first born son of King Uther Pendragon and heir to Uther’s throne. However, Arthur grew up away from the royal family, not knowing he was heir. It wasn’t until he successfully pulled the sword from the stone (where many before him had tried and failed) that Arthur showed the world he was the rightful heir. To celebrate a classic story several centuries old that still entertains readers to this day, the artists of Anderson Design Group rendered this classic book cover and vintage poster design as a part of the Literary Classics Collection, celebrating great books of all genres in poster art and original illustration. This retro art is available as a poster, print, notecard, postcard, canvas, or metal sign.
